MicFest, CIT, 10th Nov, 2007

CIT’s annual MICfest kicked off in great style. From 1pm to 11pm students from CIT showcased their talents. Held at Southside campus, there were three different venues within the campus.MICFest, CIT

The Chill Room provided visitors with a relaxed and easy going atmosphere to chill out. Festooned with streamers, balloons and fairy lights, many people took cover in The Chill Room to escape the heat outside. Red and black bean bags littered the floor while several beach balls were passed around throughout the day. The Chill Room was also home to the MICfest film festival, that screened short films from CIT students and the community.

The outside and inside venues were home to a variety of different styles of music. An original singer/song-writer competition was held in the afternoon, where students were invited to showcase their work.

Inside there was a CD launch with everything from heavy metal to Aussie rap. The launch provides the audience with a chance to listen to the music on the MICfest Cd.

The vibe from the crowd proved positive. Sara, a journalism student who was filming the event said it was an exhilarating day.

It’s just great to see all these bands performing their original songs, some of them are just amazing.
